Looking back on 2012 and projects completed, it has been an exciting year.  A combination of new clients and returning clients made the year a great one.

Thanks to my long standing friends and clients, Aaron and Kim at Mountain Motorsports for choosing Best Impressions for their new website for Mountain Motorsports and a new mobile only website for Golden Snowmobile Rentals (check it out on your cell phone!).  This was the first mobile only site I have implemented and has already proved the benefit of developing a site specifically for mobile devices.

I have worked with Chatter Creek for many years and 2012 saw a complete overhaul of their primary website: www.chattercreek.ca  It was great working with Isabelle on the new site, and I’m looking forward to applying the new look and feel of the primary website to the website for their sledding clients early in 2013.

Thank you to Ruth at the Golden Chamber of Commerce for introducing me to Brian Weir.  Weir Consolidated is the new parent company for Columbia Diesel and BNW Contracting.  It was a real pleasure working with Brian and his team to develop a single website to represent the three entities.  Launched earlier this month, you can check out the new site at: http://www.weirconsolidated.ca

One aspect of working with clients that is always a pleasure is when they recognize the benefits of a well developed website.  Furthermore that when deadlines do not permit the dream website within the ideal timeframe, it is better to be patient than to rush into a poor solution.  I worked with Mark from Columbia Extreme on his core business website several years ago, and when he approached me this spring for a new website for his newly acquired business Columbia Wetlands Adventures we agreed that it was impossible to deliver what he wanted before the summer season.  We worked together to make some temporary changes to the original site he inherited with the business and then this fall developed a brand new site which we launched last month.  Coupled with developing the website, it was great to work with mark to deliver some professional imagery to show off the amazing area he has for his Wetland tours.  http://www.wetlandsadventures.com

Curt Thorne is a good friend and has been a client for many years with his original restaurant, The Canyon’s Edge.  I have been blown away by what Curt has managed to do in such a short space of time renovating the newly acquired and renamed “The Wolf’s Den” restaurant.  Working closely with Curt to finalize his logo design, deliver large format imagery for the restaurant walls, as well as provide photography and a website for marketing the new restaurant has been a blast.  http://thewolfsdengolden.ca/

Dave Stonehouse at Stonehouse Woodworks is an incredibly talented individual and his work speaks volumes about his passion for working with wood.  It was a real pleasure working with Dave and his wife Melanie earlier this year to develop a logo and website to help market his work at http://stonehousewoodworks.com/

As I look back on the year, it is inspiring / refreshing / enjoyable to realize how may of the people I work with as clients are also people who I consider good friends – either people I knew long before we started working together, or who have become friends through meeting to discuss marketing projects.  I guess it echoes the reasons my wife and I chose to move to this town, and the support this community offers to each other…

Trevor and Charlotte Gavura have been great friends for many years and were instrumental in helping Jo and I move to Golden ten years ago.  We have worked together on a  wide variety of personal, professional and not-for-profit projects over the years, and 2012 was no exception.  Development of a website for their store Higher Ground Mountain Sports was one of the projects, and in another blog post I will mention the project Trevor and I worked on together for Kronicle Magazine.  Thanks guys.

One of my newer friends is my neighbour Diana Taufer.  Diana opened her hair studio across from my office earlier this year, and it has been a pleasure getting to know her, work with her on numerous projects as well as developing a site to market her services and products: Neighbourhood Hair

The final site worthy of a special mention is Mount 7 Lodges.  Jo (my wife) now runs our lodging business almost entirely on her own, and it was a great excuse to get to work closely together again when we re-developed our website for the lodge business.  Including an integrated online booking system, improved text and photos, updated search engine optimization, it has demonstrated one of the many perks of having a web developer as a partner in the business :) http://mount7lodges.com/

My not-for-profit projects this year included ongoing support for Golden Cycling Club, Golden Nordic Ski Club, Golden Minor Hockey, GKHAT and Golden Snowmobile Trail Society.

Other projects this last year have included:
Days Inn Golden
Reinhart Construction
Kootenay Ridge Subdivision

2013 is already scheduled to be a great year.  I am already working on a pair of new websites for existing clients HR Pacific and Chatter Creek (Snowmobiling), and hope to be launching new sites for them both in early January.  Previous clients: Golden Snowmobile Trail Society and Kirsty Panneton Dressage, are then scheduled to get an overhaul of their existing websites in the first part of the year and I am delighted to be working with Sorcerer Lodge to redesign and develop their new site in the New Year.  Watch this space for updates!

Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog – Happy New Year and best wishes for every happiness and success in 2013
Dave
